Ofcom's consultation on geolocation for cognitive access

Ofcom has published a discussion document to explore the potential of licence-exempt access to interleaved spectrum/TV whitespaces. Specifically, the consultation concerns the geolocation requirements. The main questions relate to:
- The type of information in the database
- The number of parameters/level of complexity
- An appropriate update frequency (e.g. every 2 hours)
- Is a database practical?
- Should the information have a limited 'shelf-life'?
- Who should be allowed host it
- Covering the costs of running it
- Mechanisms for providing information to it
The deadline for responses is Feb. 9, 2010.
